The Fair Harbor Fire Department is currently accepting applications for new members. In order to be considered, you must be: at least 18 years of age and must pass a physical examination.
Firematics training consists of 14 classroom sessions and 4 days of hands-on training. The classroom sessions are offered on Saturdays through the summer at a department on Fire Island, and the hands-on can be completed over two weekends at Suffolk County Fire HQ at Yaphank. There is also a more intensive course available at Yaphank.
EMT training consists of 150 classroom hours and 24 hours of practical training, renewable every three years.
