Some memories courtesy of Walter Thornberg: Mr. Rose built the current Fire House (the "front house"). James Larkin was a year-rounder who lived on Oak Walk near the bay. Ernie Grassnik was the store owner before it became Pioneer. In those days it was mostly grass fires. Before that there were many house fires from kerosine lamps and heaters.
